Before Gwen knew it, Friday night loomed ahead of her. The remainder of her week flew by without complication, but Gwen was reluctant to punch out on Friday afternoon. Andi was meeting her for drinks in twenty minutes then after dinner they were going to Jeremy and Jake’s house party. Devon would make an appearance after eight, or so he told Gwen on the phone during her lunch break. She wasn’t holding her breath, though, since he had Court all day today. The last thing he would want to do was be her accessory to the party across the street.

Slipping off her heels, Gwen rolled down her car window and flipped through radio stations, trying to find a good ‘end of week’ song to drive the short distance home. She scrunched her nose when only commercials met her ears. “Of course there’s nothing on right now,” she grumbled, pulling out of the busy parking lot. Everyone was getting off work early that day due to upper management mandating it. No one complained and Gwen was sure the partners wouldn’t mind the few dance moves that were busted when the employees heard the announcement that morning. Getting paid to leave early was the best feeling in the world. Other than not having to work at all.

Stopping by her house quickly, Gwen changed into more comfortable apparel for her early dinner and drinks with Andi. By the time she pulled into the restaurant parking lot, her stomach rumbled angrily since she forgot to eat lunch that day. She parked and hastily walked inside the dimly lit hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Andi waved from a booth in the corner and Gwen closed the short distance with her long legs. “Well, don’t you look comfy?” Andi stated when Gwen sat across from her.

“Yeah, well, it’s been a tough week. Some of us don’t make our own schedules,” Gwen shot back with a grin. Andi was lucky enough to work in real estate part-time, and by part-time, she meant barely at all. Since Andi’s dad owned the largest real estate office in the metro, Andi’s sole job was to help with graphic designs and that need was few and far between. She dabbled in selling houses and was quite good at it when given the opportunity.

“Ha ha, very funny. You won’t be laughing when I tell you that I found out how many people are coming tonight,” Andi said, looking around the bar. The waiter brought their margaritas and a basket of chips with accompanying salsa and queso.

Gwen scooped salsa onto one of the homemade chips. “Oh yeah? And who is coming? Maybe Jake’s ginger friends or Jeremy’s attorney buddies?” She popped the chip in her mouth and was caught off guard by the spiciness.

“Well, yeah, they’re all going to be there too, but I saw the RSVP list online.” She lowered her voice. “They invited pretty much every hot girl sorority from Drake and they are all coming.” Andi flicked her hair over her shoulder and took a drink.
